In 1995, Chris Jordan took this photograph of thousands of mobile phones. As part of a series focusing on consumerism in the United States, the photograph makes me inquisitive about the way manufacturers concentrate on pushing out model after model of handset rather than focusing on product quality and future software updates – both of which lead to product longevity and therefore less waste.
